Discovering Membership

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church

God is not as concerned about “members” as He is about “disciples”. A disciple is one who learns from and follows a master.

Jesus is the Master of the Christian Church. Therefore, membership at St. Mark’s simply means that you will be a part of a church that is seeking to learn from and follow Jesus.

There are two tracks to membership at St. Mark’s:

TRACK ONE

For those who do not have a background in the Lutheran Church

Step One: Your involvement in Worship and in Christian Growth opportunities is crucial for your relationship with God. Establishing a pattern of regular involvement in these areas will greatly assist you in your disciple life.

Step Two: Enroll in and attend the Discovery Series. The Discovery Series provides an overview of the basics of the Christian faith and introduces participants to some of the unique aspects of St. Marks Lutheran Church.

The Discovery Series consists of 12 one-hour sessions which take place on Sunday mornings during the Christian Growth Hour. You can begin any Sunday and simply take 12 sessions in a row. If it is necessary for you to miss a session or two, you will be provided with the necessary information.

Step Three: After completing the Discovery Series, you are invited to be received as a new member of St. Marks during one of the Sunday morning Worship Celebrations.

Step Four: All new members are connected to a New Member Friend who is a resource for you while you are learning about your new church.

For those who are transferring membership from another Lutheran congregation

Step Two: It is highly recommended that you enroll in the Discovery Series. The Discovery Series provides an overview of the basics of the Christian faith and introduces participants to some of the unique aspects of St. Marks Lutheran Church.

Step Three: Call your former church and request a Transfer of Membership to St. Marks Lutheran Church in Eureka, Missouri.

Step Four: Receive a visit from an Elder of St. Marks after your paperwork has been received in the St. Marks office. (Upon the recommendation of the Board of Elders, action will be taken on your Transfer Request.)

Step Five: After accepting your Transfer Request, you are invited to be received as a new member of St. Marks during one of the Sunday morning Worship Celebrations.

Step Six: All new members are connected to a New Member Friend who is a resource for you while you are learning about your new church.
