Admission Policy:
In order to reflect the mission of our school and the importance placed on Christian outreach, pupils will be enrolled in St. Mark's Lutheran School in the following order:

  1. Students currently attending the school

  2. Children of members

  3. Children with no church affiliation

  4. Children of members of sister Lutheran Churches

  5. Children affiliated with other Christian Churches

Five Requirements
There are five requirements for families who wish to enroll a child at St. Mark's Lutheran School.  They include:

  1. Parents must desire a Lutheran Christian education for their child and demonstrate such desire by supporting the teachers in word and deed in front of the child whenever the opportunity arises.

  2. Parents must give moral support to the school by having an attitude of helpfulness where possible and cooperation when necessary.

  3. Parents are to offer financial assistance. Such assistance shall come in the form of annual registration and tuition fees, as well as support of various fund raising activities throughout the school year.

  4. Parents and children are expected to attend worship services on a regular basis. Members of St. Mark's are also expected to contribute to the overall ministry of the congregation by practicing Christian stewardship of time, talents and treasures.

  5. Parents and students are expected to adhere to rules, guidelines, philosophies and conditions as outlined in this handbook.

Entrance Requirements
Age Guidelines:

Children 3 years old on or before July 31 are eligible for the 2 day pre-school.
Children 4 years old on or before July 31 are eligible for the 3 day pre-school.
Children 5 years old on or before July 31 are eligible for Kindergarten.
Children 6 years old on or before July 31 are eligible for First Grade.
Early admission of students will not be considered, in compliance with state law (July 1, 1997).

Other Guidelines:
All students enrolling for the first time must present a birth certificate and up-to-date immunization record prior to admission in accordance with the state and local requirements.  In the case of the application of a "special needs" child (learning disability, behavioral disability, etc.), the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) of the student from a previous school must be received and will be considered by the Principal and the Resource Room Teacher of St. Mark’s.

All students transferring to St. Mark’s in K-8th grade will be considered for enrollment only after completion of the following:

1.  St. Mark's School has received a completed application form.
2.  Their most recent report card from the child's previous school and standardized test scores have been received by St. Mark’s.
3.  The child has met with an assigned teacher to take an enrollment examination to determine the student’s level of achievement.

The Principal and Teachers will then determine through the above means whether or not to accept the applicant(s) for enrollment.  Even upon acceptance, such children will be enrolled on a probationary basis.  All enrollments are for one school year and must be reviewed annually.
